The biopsy has shown...

Writer's picture: Marcus TankardMarcus Tankard

"The biopsy has shown that the tumor in your rectum is cancerous.”

My doctor uttered these words to me at 2:37pm, September 27th. That day will forever be etched into my memory. A few days prior to that, I went in for a colonoscopy because I was bleeding. I knew something was off because I’d had some digestive challenges periodically over the last few months. But I wasn’t expecting them to find cancer.

Weeks prior to receiving this report from the doctor, God said to me, “Buckle up, there are some bumps out ahead.” I know some of my followers may not believe God hears prayer and don’t believe he talks back. But it’s too late. I’ve been walking with God almost 25 years now and no one will convince me that God doesn’t hear AND answer prayer.

I had no idea “the bump” would be cancer. But one thing about a speed bump in the road: you don’t park at the bump. You buckle up and go over it. That’s what we are doing. We are going to buckle up and ride this out and right on into victory. I will outline my treatment plan as we sort out the details. But one thing I can tell you right now is:

1. I believe God!

2. I am officially a vegan.

3. I have an anointed team of doctors that are helping me tackle this spiritually, holistically and with best solutions medical science can offer.

And because a cord of three stands is not easily broken (Ecc. 4:12), we are on the victory side. God didn’t bring me to Houston for cancer to take me down. I have cancer; cancer doesn’t have me. I have taken authority over it in Jesus name and it will not rule me or govern the affairs of my life. Together, me and the my support system of family and faith filled friends and followers are taking this thing down. It will be a testimony to the faithfulness of our God.

Thank you for being my prayer partner and my friend. The struggle is over, it is well with my soul and there will be GLORY after this!
