Recently, I was talking with a friend of mine in ministry, Mark Brazee. I say that Pastor Mark is a friend in ministry, but he’s actually someone I consider to be a mentor to me. I have a pastor/spiritual father, but since the time I met Pastor Mark back in 2004, his supply into my life has challenged my global perspective concerning ministry, triggered a hunger for the presence of God, and kept me balanced in prayer.
In my conversations with Pastor Mark recently, we talked about the importance of ministers praying together. I told him, "You and Pastor Janet (his wife) were the first ministers to ever invite me into a time of prayer with you." It was the God-honest truth. Mark and Janet Brazee saw that I had a love for prayer, and they share a passion for prayer as well. When I lived in Tulsa, they would regularly set aside time for us to get together and pray. (Continue reading blow the picture).
Mark Brazee introduced the importance of a prayer partner to me. I saw his example as a praying man, but I also saw how much he valued connecting with other praying ministers. My relationship with Pastor Mark reminds me of Peter and John. They were prayer partners. The miracle of the man being healed at the temple in Acts 4 happened on Peter and John's way to pray. The entire book of Acts shows that the spiritual leaders of that day prioritized prayer.
So I want to ask you a question: Do you have a prayer partner? Someone who can connect with you in prayer concerning God's plan? Someone with whom you have a rhythm and routine in prayer? Peter and John prayed together regularly, possibly daily. Maybe you can't contact your prayer partner daily, but perhaps you can set aside time for a few prayer meetings a year. Let this be the turning point in your prayer life where you not only prioritize prayer but also prioritize connecting with others in the prayer place. The presence of God is great, but it's REALLY GREAT when we can all come together.
I was able to sit down with Pastor Mark and record our conversation about prayer and ministry. Watch my show with Harrison House Publishing and my special guest, Mark Brazee!
In His Presence,
